This insect is a Paddy Fly/Leptocorisa varicornis/ගොයම් මැස්සා, and is considered a major paddy field pest. I know hardly anything else about this bug, and all you my dear readers are invited to share whatever you might know about this one. This is a post for Macro Monday.
he's beautiful. great shot!
ReplyDeleteAwesome insect shot - very nicely done. I like the feeling that it's finely balanced on the blade of grass(?). Was this taken in your backyard?

ReplyDeleteYou captured it beautifully! I don't know anything about this insect, neither have I seen it before...we don't have any paddy field in my country.

ReplyDeleteHello my friends,Thank you very much for stopping by and leaving very encouraging comments!:)
ReplyDeleteDave,
I believe the plant on which this bug is perched is a type of Screw-pine,a Pandanus sp,a plant growing around paddy fields and other water baring habitats, like swarms. I found this specimen at a coconut plantation adjoining a paddy field with in a few minutes' walk from home.
It's a cute pest. Great macro!
