Here's another product of my walks home after work. First I confused it with an Asian Skimmer but the difference of the tail color pattern made me search further till I found this blog post by my blogger friend Amila Salgado, which allowed me to identify this one correctly.
The Dragonflies of Sri Lanka
Dragonflies are so magical. :) I think that they are some of the most beautiful, though "common", creatures that are found throughout the world.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, not all cultures respect them. I was surprised to see that they are treated as everyday pests here in Brazil. I tried to stop a group of women from killing a very large one that had accidentally flown into a salon. I was unsuccessful. :*(
(Sorry, i accidentally published my comment before i was finished.)
ReplyDeleteThis Blue Persuer in particular is one of the most beautiful that i've seen. Great capture!!
Hi Amaris,
ReplyDeleteYes they are magical. I'm sorry to hear of them having such a bad time there!
It's a nice dragonfly to have in your yard. Kandy is very good for dragonflies.
ReplyDeleteHi Amila,Nice to see your on my blog! Yes this species is particularly nice. This one was in Kurunegala, but Kandy being near,I guess there is a similarity between the biodiversity of the two cities.
ReplyDeleteThank you.... your post helped me identify most of the dragonflies on my land/farm
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures! Wow, so clear. Don't know how you do it but thank you.
ReplyDeleteHi arjun,My pleasure!
ReplyDeleteHi Dawn,Thank you for the compliment! Actually, these photos are pretty average. I was just able to get as close as about two feet to this critter and shoot in the intelligent macro mode of my simple point-and-shoot digital cam. Check my blog roll for some real macros, about hundred folds better than mine! :-)
not Blue Persure I think it is indigo dropwing.check brother
