Macro Monday.................

This insect is  a Paddy Fly/Leptocorisa varicornis/ගොයම් මැස්සා, and is considered a major paddy field pest. I know hardly anything else about this bug, and all you my dear readers are invited to share whatever you might know about this one. This is a post for Macro Monday.

Paddy Fly/Leptocorisa varicornis/ගොයම් මැස්සා,

  1. Awesome insect shot - very nicely done. I like the feeling that it's finely balanced on the blade of grass(?). Was this taken in your backyard?

  7. Hello my friends,Thank you very much for stopping by and leaving very encouraging comments!:)

    Dave,
I believe the plant on which this bug is perched is a type of Screw-pine,a Pandanus sp,a plant growing around paddy fields and other water baring habitats, like swarms. I found this specimen at a coconut plantation adjoining a paddy field with in a few minutes' walk from home.
