Pecker And Fungi.....

Hello people, how are things? I did manage to get something  for you this week as I hoped last Friday.

Here's a Black-rumped Flameback Woodpecker (Dinopium benghalense) and a kind of fungi That I have photographed. Be back with more shots next Friday if the weather permits, we have started getting heavy rain after a really long spell of dry weather.

Posted for World Bird Wednesday, Camera Critters, and Macro Monday.

  6. I have never seen a woodpecker or a fungus that look anything like that?!?! Then I realized you were in Sri Lanka...that is far from Ohio in the US. So, no wonder things look different! I wish we had such a beautiful woodpecker here!!

  21. That's an amazing woodpecker. Do you know if it is related to the large american woodpeckers like the ivory-billed, piliated or imperial? I sure enjoyed them? Thanks.

    1. Hi Bryan, all woodpeckers belong to family Picidae, so they are obviously related, and their may be a relationship further down the taxonomy, considering their similar looks.
