Top Model..............

I photographed this Tropic Dart/Potanthus confucius    last week in my garden. It was one of those occasions when your subject literally poses for you.  Interestingly, this critter is also called Chinese Dart and Confucian Dart  ! Posted for Macro Monday and Mellow Yellow Monday.

  4. Lovely insect Amila with those dark eyes. Is it a butterfly or a moth, and why such dark, large eyes? My turn for questions.

  7. Hello there, thanks for the comments!:)

Phil, Apparently it is a butterfly, though not a typical one. It belongs the family Hesperiidae, which is called Skippers. Skippers show some features of moths. Unfortunately there is very little info online about these critters. I suggest you visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skipper_butterflies for nto learn more about skippers. Sorry I can't help you with the eyes.

  10. What a beautiful little moth! Was he cold? I know insects are less active when they're cold so I wondered if that's why he was more cooperative!

    Very nice shots!
